The Wellbeing of Architects 2021 Student Survey, Primary Report

The report presents the findings of the major survey of wellbeing of architectural students in Australia, undertaken in 2021.

The wellbeing of the architecture students who responded to this survey is worryingly poor. There appears to be a range of factors that negatively impact student wellbeing.

Two thirds of students perceived that their studies had an overall negative impact on their wellbeing, while one in four students reported experiencing severe psychological distress. Our data indicated that a supportive study environment was an important factor in higher levels of wellbeing, quality of life, and a sense of efficacy for architecture students.

This is an urgent area of concern for the architecture profession in Australia today.
